I have to confess, I have been in a style rut with our master bedroom. I got rid of some keys pieces of furniture that I hated but then the project kind of stalled out due to lack of creative inspiration.
Your bedroom is supposed to be calming, warm and cozy. Ours felt random, disjointed and basically just stressful. It was time for some changes. I am currently updating half of our home so I needed this mini transformation to be budget friendly.
The most important part of a bedroom though is the bed and the bedding. I love lounging in bed whether it is in the morning with a cup of coffee or in the evening, watching my favorite show on Netflix ( I know, I know, you aren’t supposed to have electronics in the bedroom). The bed needs to be soft, but not too soft and definitely not too hard. And the bedding? Well it bascially needs to feel like I am floating on clouds, wrapped in a cocoon. Enter my friends at Rothman & Co.
I had been following Rothman & Co. on Instagram for quite awhile and I was in love with every single piece of linen and bedding that they posted. Whether it is beautiful blush napkins with tiny pom poms, frilly throw pillows, fluffy towels or bedding, I knew this was a company that I could support. Best part? They are a small family owned business in Vancouver. Yay Canadians!
I picked out the dreamy Sauton bedding for our bedding. It fits perfectly with the rustic/shabby chic/polished look I wanted our bedroom to have. It has ruffles all around the duvet, ruffles on the pillow sham and a cute throw pillow with, you guessed it, ruffles. Consider me sold, folks! It is made out of the softest cotton and can be machine washed – these are important things because who actually wants to take their duvet cover to the dry cleaners once a week? Nobody, that’s who.
Anyway, if you live in Vancouver, you must stop in and see Lana and her family and find some new things to freshen up your home and for those of us who don’t get to live in Vancouver, shop online because they ship. Wahoo!
Our bedroom still has some work that needs to be done – I want to wallpaper, change out the area rug, etc but for now the new bedding is a huge improvement. Plus I hung a mirror, took down our gallery wall, bought new drapes and hung some shelves. Yay! Stay tuned for that post.
