Wow – who is the worst blogger when it comes to posting regularly? Uhm, that would be me. Sometimes I forget there is a social media platform other than Instagram that I need to engage in.
Anyway – I thought I would hop on here and share a post about a fun little party that my friend Kelsey and I planned. A party that my other friend Martine took photos of and I am so happy with how they turned out.
My best ideas usually happen late at night, that is usually when I text Kelsey saying, “hey, I think we should plan a party”. Kelsey planned my 30th birthday party and helped plan my bridal shower but we haven’t had the opportunity to do something together so this was fun. We decided we would throw this little shindig the weekend before Valentines (we both work at a flower shop so it couldn’t happen on V-day weekend). We started out thinking we would invite a handful of friends and we ended up with 30. Ooops.
We knew we needed simple and yummy food, delicious drinks and beautiful flowers, #obvs. I think we nailed it.
The menu included:
Heart shaped ham and cheese sammies
Chips and hot cheese dip
Crackers and heart shaped cheese
Fruit and brownie kebabs
Chocolate dipped Rick Krispie hearts
Chocolate dipped strawberries
Earl grey and marble cake
Raspberry sherbert punch.
Next year, I would love to do a smaller sit down version that included a full brunch. How awesome would that be??
What’s a party without mimosas greeting you at the front door? Am I right?? I may have had too many of these for an average Sunday morning.
My sweet friend Allison over at Whisk Granted makes the cutest and most delicious sugar cookies you could ever ask for. Best part? She is in B.C and I am in Alberta and she just ships them to me. Amazing! And how cute are those X’s and O’s?
We knew we wanted to keep the food simple but we also wanted to cut everything into hearts – yes we are 13 years old. So we spent Saturday night drinking wine and cookie cutting Rice Krispie squares, sandwiches, chopping veggies and making fruit and brownie kebabs. Ps. I don’t like Rice Krispie squares normally but if you dip them in chocolate and add sprinkles, they are actually really delicious.
Sorry this post was a little picture heavy, but there were too many pretty details to not include. The heart shaped sandwiches were a hit, the punch disappeared and 30 or so friends had a wonderful Sunday morning. Who says you need a valentine to celebrate Valentine’s Day? A galentine might be even more fun!
Stay tuned for a future post showing some more details including the cute coffee bar we had set up, the swag bags and other deets!
Special thanks to Martine Martell Photography for the beautiful photos. To Allison at Whisk Granted for the sweet sugar cookies and to Kelsey from Grower Direct Flowers Grande Prairie for the beautiful flowers. Kelsey is also the mastermind who helped put this together with me. So fun!
I hope this inspires you to plan your own Galentines party next year!
